Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between serum C reactive Protein(CRP) or Homocysteine(HCY) level and severity of coronary artery disease in patients with coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods 80 patients were diagnosed as CHD by coronary angiography in which there were 24 patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI)(AMI group),30 cases with unstable angina pectoris(UAP)(UAP group),26 cases with stable angina pectoris(SAP)(SAP group) and 40 healthy persons(NC group). In addition, according to the number of lesion artery, the 80 patients with CHD were further divided into subgroupⅠ(20 patients),subgroup Ⅱ(34 patients) and subgroup Ⅲ(26 patients).Peripheral blood was collected respectively and the levels of CRP and HCY were detected simultaneously. Results Serum CRP and HCY level of CHD patients was significantly higher than NC group(P 0.01).CRP and HCY levels of AMI,UAP and SAP groups were reduced in turn and the difference of pairwise comparison was statistically significant(P 0.05).CRP and HCY level in CHD patients of subgroup Ⅰ,subgroup Ⅱ and subgroup Ⅲ were in creased in turn, and the difference of pairwise comparison was statistically significant(P 0.05).Conclusion The serum CRP and HCY levels have relationship with the severity of coronary lesions and the number of lesions. The result suggests that CRP and HCY could serve as a basis for the diagnosis of CHD.
