Advances in studies of sustainable utilization of agricultural water resources

This paper outlines the current status of studies of sustainable utilization of agricultural water resources,which is the precondition of sustainable development of agriculture.Sustainable development ideology has already been studied in the fields of sustainablities of agricultural water resources utilization and agriculture development,and its nature of harmony is mentioned by different ways too.However,it is urgent to study how to measure the harmony or coordination of the relation of water resources demands between human and nature,and sustainability indicators system is approved to be a good measure tool.For the increase of food production and sustainable development of agriculture and region,model building,water-saving techniques and improvement of water use efficiency have been discussed for optimized allocation and sustainable utilization of agricultural water resources.However,it is still some potential reseach focuses to be probed into,i.e.connotation of agricultural water resources,quantification and token of sustainable utilization of agricultural water resources,ecological water demand,water saving,soil water,transferring water out of agriculture,management of agricultural water resources,etc.The discussion of the problems would bear on prospects for a more successful sustainable development strategy.
