Clinical observation of polyethylene glycol-electrolyte powder in the bowel preparation before colonoscopy

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of oral administration of polyethylene glycol-electrolyte powder in the bowel preparation before colonoscopy.Methods:Sixty-one patients undergoing colonoscopy examinazation or treatment were randomized into received either polyethylene glycol-electrolyte powder(the study group) or mannitol(the control group) for bowel preparation.The quality of the bowel cleanness,adverse reaction of the patients as well as tolerance of the patients were observed and compared.Results: The cleaning degree in the study group showed more effective than control group with statistical significance;less side effects were ob-served in the study group as the same result.The tolerance to the management in the study group was higher than that in the control group.Conclusion:Polyethylene glycol-electrolyte powder is effective and safe in bowel preparation before colonoscopy.
