Abstract
Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacy of repaglinide on patients with type Ⅱ diabetes mellitus(T2DM),and its influence on body weight and serum insulin levels. Methods The changes of blood glucose(BG), serum insulin level, HbA1c, body weight, blood pressure and incidence of hypoglycemia were observed before and 12 weeks after the administration of repaglinide in 60 T2DM patients. Results The levels of BG, HbA1c and fasting serum insulin decreased significantly ( t= 3.69-8.06, P 0.05). There were no changes of body weight ( t=1.13,P 05). The patients had no complaints of severe hypoglycemia or other side effects. Conclusion Repaglinide can efficiently decrease the levels of blood glucose and fasting serum insulin, but has no influence on the body weight and postprandial serum insulin level.
