Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of a soybean extract(CKBN) on immune function in immunosuppressed mice. Methods Immunosuppressed mice were induceded by intraperitoneal injection of cyclophosphamide(CTX).The effect of CKBN treatment at a dose of 1 mg/kg,25 mg/kg,50 mg/kg,and 100 mg/kg on the immune function in CTX-induced immunosuppressed mice was studied. Results The spleen index was significantly increased in the group of mice treated with 25 mg/kg CKBN,respectively. The inhibitory effect of CTX on the peripheral leucocyte count was reversed by the treatment of 25 mg/kg,50 mg/kg,and 100 mg/kg CKBN.The percentage of mononuclear cells was markedly raised by 1 mg/kg CKBN treatment, and the percentage of neutrophils was significantly increased in the 50 mg/kg CKBN treatment group.IgG2a level in the 100 mg/kg CKBN treatment group was higher than that in the CTX group. There was an induction of phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages in the groups with 1 g/kg,5 mg/kg,and 50 mg/kg CKBN treatment in comparison with that in the CTX group. The activity of NK cells was remarkably stimulated in the group treated with 25 mg/kg CKBN.Conclusion CKBN significantly increases the immune function in CTX-induced immunosuppressed mice.
