Abstract
Objective To investigate the changes of bone mineral density(BMD) and influencing factors in male patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods Thirty nine male patients, diagnosed with type 2 diabetes from October,2009 to October,2010,were divided into normal bone mass group, osteopenia group and osteoporosis group according to T scores. The data of biochemical measurements were compared among three groups. Results Blood total cholesterol(TC) of osteoporosis group was significantly higher than that of normal bone mass group and osteopenia group(P0.01).Blood calcium of osteoporosis group was higher than that of normal bone mass group(P0.05).The BMD of male patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes was positively correlated with insulin level and BMI(P0.05).Conclusion Newly diagnosed diabetic male patients with high TC are prone to osteoporosis.
