Abstract

Based on the satellite remote sensing data of six phases from 1984 to 2005 in Suzhou area, this paper, from the point of view of urbanization expansion, analyzes using some methods such as urbanization intensity index, global or local spatial association measurement etc.the periods changes and the evolution of spatial agglomeration characteristic in the process of urbanization,as well as the spatial distribution pattern of the districts and the cold spots of urbanization in Suzhou from 1980s.It is concluded that since 1980s the spatial agglomeration of Suzhou urbanization pattern weakens gradually, that the high-value clusters(hot spots) of urbanization development presents obvious features of spatial evolution and leap, and that the multi-factor driving and the trend of hot spot's rotation in global aspects,as well as the central radiation and grade process in local aspects are all coexistence in the process of Suzhou urbanization.
