Abstract
With the epicyclical gear trains of K-H type as the units, which are the simplest gear trains, and by the method of constructing building blocks, new epicyclical gear trains can be obtained. Different combinations of these will result in different epicyclical gear trains with different characteristics. In some of them there will exist the circulating power load and so the transmission efficiency will be lower and sometimes self-locking may arise while in others there will not exist circulating power load and so the transmission efficiency will be higher. In this paper the relationship between power-flow and kinematic characteristics and that between power-flow and structure parameter of the epicyclical gear trains of K-H type are analyzed and the newly-found combination method, by which the power-flow characteristics of the gear trains can be controlled, is presented.
