The German Higher Education Reform in 20th Century and Its Inspiration

The Humboldt Tradition,whose philosophy it academic training and elite education,is the foundation of higher education in Germany. But this tradition reached a difficult point under the new circumstances.The German searched for an equilibrium,between the adhering to tradition and reformation,that is,an equilibrium between the liberal education and professional education.There are also some problems with modern Chinese higher education.One of these prominent problems is the difficulties of employment of the graduate.Before the solution of that,we must ask firstly:should university education give emphasis to liberal education or professional education which takes profession cultivating as primary goal? But the point is,our university failed to do either of them.The higher education in Germany once had faced exactly the same problems as we do,so if we study these problems once German had studied,it may be helpful for us to slove the problem.
