Abstract
Objective:The aims of the study were to assess the role of fibrinolytic activity and endothelial function in patients with unstable angina pectoris(UA) by measuring the levels of tissue plasminogen activator(t\|PA) activity、plasminogen activator inhibitor\|1(PAI\|1) activity and von willebrand factor(vWF) percentage in their plasma. Methods:Forty patients with UA,thirty normal volunteers were studied.Plasma t\|PA activity and plasma PAI\|1 activity were measured by appropriate assay.vWF percentage were measured by enzyme\|linked immunosorbant assay(ELISA).Results:(1)The UA group showed a significant reduction t\|PA activity compared with control group(0 2±0 11IU/ml∶0 4±0 09IU/ml, P 0 05);there were significant elevations in plasma PAI\|1 activity(0 9±0 32AU/ml∶0 53±0 30AU/ml, P 0 05) and plasma vWF percentage\[(565±80 5)%∶(80±55 6)%, P 0 001)\] in contrast with the control group;(2)The PAI\|1 displayed a positive correlation with the vWF percentage;(3)The PAI\|1 activity and the vWF percentage displayed a positive correlation with the TG concentration, respectively. Conclusion:In patients with UA,the fibrinolytic activity is reduced and the endothelial function is injured. These changes make the patients with UA more susceptible to develop coronary artery vasoconstriction and thrombokinesis
