From the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China, because of the double effects of their own and external conditions, the traditional charity organizations in Beijing area, whose aid pattern was mainly by means of almsgiving, grew up to be the new ones, whose aid pattern was mainly by means of parenting style. The new charity organizations not only paid attention to imparting living skill, but also actively inculcated and spread west advanced thought and knowledge. The transformation of the traditional aid pattern of charity organizations corroborates the fact again that the great change of modern Chinese society is the product of interaction of internal and external power, and is not the simple result of impact-response.
