Abstract
The community structures of phytoplankton and water quality in seven lakes of Nanjing were investigated in spring, 2008. The research results show that the lakes nutrition status in Nanjing are between mesotrophicaiton and mesoand eutrophication, in which some city lakes is in serious eutrophication and Gucheng lake and Jinniu lake as drinking water source are in mesotrophication, while Gucheng lake shows eutrophication indicated by the community structure of phytoplankton. Diatom is main species and its number is the highest in eutrophic lakes, while the numbers of Cryptomonas and Cyanobacteria are the highest in mesoand eutrophic lakes. The nutrition status is marked positive relationship with number of phytoplankton in all kinds of lakes in Nanjing.
