Abstract
Most literature on strategic alliances are pro-alliances and they argue that strategic alliances can creat competitve advantages and promote competitive position.There are several unsuccessful cases.This paper presents the case of Scania,Swedish heavy truck producer,as an example of the strategic advantages that can be achieved by not entering into horizontal strategic alliances.
