An Exploration of Macro-institutionalism

Different from theory of political development that focuses on political change in developing countries,neo-institutionalism pays much attention to the relationship of medium institutional arrangements and political goods,therefore it has been regarded as medium-theory.Actually the meta-theory of neo-institutionalism originated from the theory of institutional change has the feature of macro endowment.Multi-layers of institution,especially different research agendas determine that institutional analysis has different characters.This article constructs a macro-micro institutional paradigm consisting of idea,institutional structure and institutional arrangement,and testifies it with China's first modernization in the late of 19th century.
