Abstract
To understand the pollution status of heavy metals in the surface sediment of Jinzhou Bay,surface sediment samples were collected from Jiaozhou Bay in August 2012,and concentrations of E i ght heavy metals were measured. The potential ecological risks of heavy metals were evaluated by Hankanson's method. The results displayed that the content of heavy metals has obvious spatial distribution characteristics. The trend is gradually reducing from near-shore to open seas. This is caused by the tidal current movement and the pollution discharge. The Hankanson's results displayed that the potential ecological harm level is Hg Cd As Pb Cu Ni Zn Cr. The major pollution factors are Hg、Cd and As.
