Public characters between Chinese and western classical gardens are compared and analyzed. In Chinese classical gardens,natural reproduction and magnificent artistic conception are emphasized. People can be subtly affected by the beauty of nature during their garden visit. In contrast,digital logical beauty and rules of balance are highlighted in western classical gardens. Essence of Chinese folk art should be absorbed in modern gardens with characteristics of the era.
