Abstract

The genus Euparatettix Hancock,1904 from China is reviewed, with fifty six species recorded, including two new species:Euparatettix zayuensis sp. nov. and Euparatettix jinghongensis sp. nov. A key to Chinese species of Euparatettix is given. Type specimens are kept in the Institute of Zoology,Shaanxi Normal University. Euparatettix zayuensis sp. nov. (Figs 1-3) This new species is allied to Euparatettix brachyptera Zheng et Mao,2002 and Euparatettix rongshuiensis Zheng,2005. It differs from species the former in:1) hind process reaching knee of hind femur; 2) top of hind process sharp; 3) hind tibia brown. It differs from the latter species in:1) anterior margin of vertex slightly protruding before eyes; 2) vertex and frontal ridge forming an obtuse angular in profile; 3) lower outer side of hind femur not black. ♀ length of body 10.0-10.2 mm,length of pronotum 8.0-8.4 mm,length of hind femur 5.5-6.0 mm. Holotype ♀,Xizang,Zayu (97°5′N,28°8′E),5 July 2005,collected by SHI Ai-Min. Paratype 1♀,same data as holotype. Etymology. The specific name is derived from the type locality Zayu. Euparatettix jinghongensis sp. nov. (Figs 4-5) This new species is allied to Euparatettix planipedonoides Zheng et Jiang,2003,but differs in:1) vertex and frontal ridge forming a round shape in profile;2) frontal ridge not concave before lateral ocular;3) hind process reaching middle of hind tibia;4) humeral angle obtuse angular; 5) width of midfemur 1.3 times of elytra;6) in the lateral parts of pronotum with two triangular black specks. ♂ length of body 7.0-7.2 mm,length of pronotum 8.0-8.4 mm,length of hind femur 4.0-4.5 mm. Holotype ♂,Yunnan,Jinghong (100°9′N,22°E),20 July 2005,collected by NIU Yao. Paratypes 2♂♂,same data as holotype. Etymology. The specific name is derived from the type locality Jinghong.
