Abstract
The current evaluation methodology of Level of Service(LOS) is respectively carried on the segments,intersections and weave sections.For highway network,there is not a uniform criteria and a practical methodology to evaluate LOS.This paper presents a new methodology to evaluate LOS of highway network by traffic simulation technical.Two index parameters are used in the proposed method: the average speed and the degree of saturation(v/c).The method is applied to the evaluation of a highway network with the aid of traffic simulation software TSIS.From the example,it can be concluded that it's practicable to evaluate the network LOS with uniform method.The method is simple in principle and practical for application.
