The Elegant Changhe Poetry of Ouyang Xiu during his Banishment in Chuzhou

In the third year of Qingli,Ouyang Xiu participated Qingli New Deal with full passion,but the New Deal failed in the following year and he was to Chuzhou.The banishment of Chuzhou made him clearly see the complexity of politics and the inclemency in official career.Living one year in Chuzhou,his hair had become totally white,but the attack at his mind was more serious than the banishment,so he called him an old drunkard,showing his will of living in seclusion.All of these directly influenced on the content and artistic skill of his changhe poetry of that time.During the period,his changhe poetry was mainly the chanting poems with rich humane colour,intending to avoid politics.The second type was travelling poem showing his own ease by landscape.The third concerned for the real life,and his poetry thoughts of doing something persisted in difficulty.There were a certain number of his poems for praising friends and comfort for each other in adversity.In poetry art,his poems expressed simpleness and the clever force,with the beauty of fluency and difficulty,having an active influence on the development and maturity of the poetry in Song dynasty.
