Abstract

Different types of EMS in continuous caster and their influences on strand quality are reviewed.Considerations to select appropriate type of EMS are introduced according to the requirement on metallurgical quality to the cast strands for different steel grade.Metallurgical effects of M-EMS on both billet and round bloom casters at Maanshan Steel are analyzed and countermeasures to existing problems are put forward accordingly.
