Abstract
At present the study of sequence stratigraphy has rapidly expanded from basin\|scale sequence stratigraphy and systems tract analysis into reservoir\|scale,high resolution sequence stratigraphy.High resolution sequence stratigraphy is based on high resolution databases including closely spaced outcrops, well logs and high resolution seismic reflection data.Detailed well log analysis,3D seismic profiles and special seismic parameter mapping, and computer simulation are major supports for application of high resolution sequence stratigraphy to subsurface geology and reservoir predication. It has been documented that the high resolution sequence stratigraphy is a powerful and predictive tool for basin facies analysis, reservoir characterization and oilfield development management.
