Effects of NaCl Solution on Seeds Germination of Different Muskmelon(Cucumis melo L. ) Cultivars

Abstract

[Objective]The aim was to study the effects of different concentration solution on seeds germination of different muskmelon cultivars,to provide a theoretical basis for screening the muskmelon cultivars for production and breeding the muskmelon cultivars with salt resistance. [Method]The effects of different concentration NaCl solution(50,100,150,200,250 mmol / L) on the germination potential,the germination rate,the germination index,and the germination vigor index of different muskmelon cultivars( Fenglei,Lvfeicui,and Jindian) by the method of seed germination in petri dish. [Result]The 0-50 mmol / L-lower concentration NaCl solution promoted the growth of three kinds of muskmelon cultivars' radicle,and with the increasing of NaCl solution concentration,the germination potential,the germination rate,the germination index,the germination vigor index and the growth rate of radicle were all decreased,showing that high concentration NaCl solution inhibited the growth of crops. [Conclusion]The 0-50 mmol / L-NaCl solution promotes the germination of muskmelon seeds,and 50 mmol / L-NaCl solution has the best effects.
