Toxicologic Study on Zhisoulixiao Capsule

Objective To observe the acute toxicity of Zhisoulixiao Capsule(ZC)in mice and its long-period toxicity to rats.Methods The acute toxicity experiment was done.The symptoms of ZC in mice were observed and 50 percent lethal dose(LD_(50)) was calculated.Three groups of rats(in high,moderate and low dosage of ZC) were administered with repeated gastric infusion of ZC for 6 weeks.Body weight,hematological and hematobiochemical parameters,coefficient and histomorphological figure of organs(the heart,liver,spleen,lungs,kidneys,adrenals,thymus,brain) were examined in 6 weeks and 2 weeks after cessation of ZC.Results The LD_(50) of ZC was 17.4 g/kg by gastric infusion in mice.The body weight of male rats increased slowly in high-dosage and moderate-dosage groups.The coefficient of spleen decreased in low-dosage female group and high-dosage female group.The coefficient of thymus decreased in low-dosage female group and high-dosage male group.ZC had a certain effect on hematology.Conclusion ZC has certain toxicity.
