Abstract
Objective To investigate the change of serotype and antibiotics resistance of Shigella in Meilong area during three years. Methods Clinical isolated Shigella spp strains were collected, identified and serotyped. The susceptibil-itytestingwereperformedonsomeofthem. Results OfShigellasppstrains,63.6%~69.6%wereSflexneriand30.4%~33.1% were S sonnei. The antibiotics resistance of Shigella spp strains have been escalated in three years. The approximately susceptibility rates of S flexneri to the third generation cephalosrin were 95%,to piperacillin were 17%,to quinolones were 22%.The approximately susceptibility rates of S sonnei to auinolones were 90%,the rates to the third generation cephalosrin were declined from 100% in 2002 to 78% in 2004. Conclusions During three years, the main serotypes of Shigella spp are S flexneri and S sonnei, the main serotypes of S flexneri are Ⅰ,Ⅱand Ⅳ. The antibiotics resistance of Shigella spp were escalated. Susceptibility testing shoud be performed to guide the reasonable application of antibiotics.
