Abstract

Sludge age as a maintenance of the activity of activated sludge and an important indicator of freshness has been shown to be more important than other parameters. With domestic sewage as raw water, the paper presented the removal and sludge characteristics change of the system of COD, NH4 +-N, TN, PO4 3--P when the sludge age is 5, 10, 20, 30 d by using the SBR process with sludge transfer. The results show that when SRT=10 d,the system gain the best removal of nitrogen and phosphorus, then COD、NH4 +-N、TN、PO4 3-- P removal rates were: 81%、94%、62%、95%, and get the good performance of the settlement, the overall effect of the nitrogen and phosphorus removal system is excellent.
