Abstract

The factors influencing the stability of gasoline and the methods for decreasing the olefin contents in gasoline were described. A novel way to decrease the olefin and basic nitrogen content in gasoline using ionic liquids was studied herein, as well as the investigation of decreasing the basic nitrogen content, refining, using supported ILs catalyst on a small scale. After denitrifying and refining, the basic nitrogen content of gasoline decreased nearly to null, the sulfur content also decreased greatly, and the catalyst lasted longer. After the reaction to decrease the olefin with the ILs catalyst, the FCC gasoline has the lower contents of the olefins and meanwhile its octane number increases a little. To improve the catalysis of ILs and prolong the life span of ILs, a buffering agent was added into ILs system. The ILs kind of catalyst, as a green environment-friendly catalyst, can displace many other alkylation catalysts to decrease the olefin content of gasoline, and shows the notable advantages: mild reaction conditions, short reaction time, simple operation, and easy separation of the products and the catalyst.
