Abstract

ZHANG Jian is a famous educator and industrialist in modern China,he devoted himself to developing the education and industry in modern China in the hope that the advanced education and industry could save the nation.His educational thought of combining Chinese and western culture was formed during the process of the dissemination of the western learning to the east in Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic of China.His thought was expressed from every aspect of his educational practice such as the education aims set for his school,the educational system he established according to the western educational system,and even the curriculum arrangement and the teaching activities in the schools he founded.ZHANG Jian's educational thought and practice not only reflect and promote the educational development in China from traditional system to modern system,but also have great significance for solving the problems like how to absorb the western knowledge and educational system in the current Chinese education cause.
