Vitrectomy for secondary glaucoma induced by lens subluxation

Abstract

Objective: To explore the effect of vitrectomy for secondary glaucoma induced by lens subluxation. Methods: 29 eyes with secondary glaucoma were treated by vitrectomy. Among them, 14 eyes were treated by anterior vitrectomy combined phacectomy ; 15 eyes were performed three hole closed vitrectomy throng ciliary flat combined phacectomy . Intra-ocular lens (IOL) were first implanted in 12 eyes. Result: 22 eyes were followed up for 1～12 months. The postoperative IOP of 18 eyes were controlled under 21 mmHg, of 2 eyes were controlled at 24 mmHg with topical anti-glaucoma drugs, of 2 eyes were controlled at 24.00± 3.25 mmHg with oral anti-glaucoma drugs. Vision improved in 16 eyes, unchanged in 6 eyes. Conclusions: Vitrectomy in treating secondary glaucoma induced by lens subluxation is safe and effective.
