Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of color Doppler flow imaging(CDFI) in carotid stcnosis. Methods Ultrasound examination was performed on 187 cases(87 patients,100 health persons) 314 carotid arteries were taken to measure the intima-media thickness(IMT) and detect the plague development of carotid artery. Results The thickening of the intima-media layer of common and/or internal carotid artery wall in 136 sides, the hyperechoic plaque in 97 sides,as well as the carotid stenosis in 31 sides were detected. The range of carotid stenosis was 40%~95%,and the median was 76%.One patient's internal carotid was occluded. The carotid arteries in 238 patients were normal. Conclusion The lesions on extracranial carotid artery wall reveal sensitively, and the degree of carotid stenosis is diagnosed accurately with CDFI.
