Abstract
The male sterile line AB_(91) was bred by using a male sterile plant of sweet pepper discovered in field. The line AB_(91) was selected by means of cross, self-cross, test cross and successive backcross. It has stable sterility with fine horticultural characters, good tolerance to diseases and high combining ability. A series of F_1 hybrid varieties of sweet pepper were bred by crossing the genic male sterile line AB_(91) with inbred lines. The results showed that the male sterile line governed by one pair of recessive genes. The sterility is stable and is transselected easily.
