Abstract

Objective To study the efficacy and adverse reaction of lispro in the intensive insulin therapy of elderly diabetic patients. Methods 66 elderly diabetic patients(≥65 years)were randomly divided into lispro group(insulin pump,22 cases),lispro+humulin N group(22 cases)and humulin R+humulin N group(22 cases)to receive intensive insulin therapy for 2 weeks. The time of reaching standard glucose control, glucose level, the total doses of insulin and the rate of hypoglycemia were compared among 3 groups. Results After the treatment,2 groups used lispro had better postprandial glucose(P0.05),less time of reaching standard glucose control(P0.05)and less doses of insulin(P0.05).There was no significant difference between lispro group and lispro+humulin N group(P0.05).However,the rate of hypoglycemia among 3 groups had no significant difference(P0.05).Conclusion Lispro is an effective and safe drug for intensive insulin therapy of elderly diabetic patients.
