Abstract

Ammonia and magnesium chloride was used as raw material for preparing ultrafine magnesium hydroxide by direct precipitation. The magnesium hydroxide products were achieved with D(50)1.00 μm in 9 out of 25 tests by an orthogonal test methodology. The process variables had the following ranking in terms of their effect on the product quality, concentration of magnesium ionsammonia to magnesium ratioreaction temperatureammonia addition rateconcentration of ammoniareaction time.
