Abstract

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic sensitivity of anti-tuberculosis antibody for pulmonary tuberculosis and investigate the effect of the severity and other individual factors on anti-tuberculosis antibody of pulmonary tuberculosis patients. Methods Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay method was used to test the serum anti-tuberculosis antibody of each of the 123 new smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients whose results of bacteria culture of sputum showed mycobacterium tuberculosis or mycobacterium tuberculosis var bovis, the positive rate of anti-tuberculosis antibody and the relationship between the results and the severity or other individual factors of the patients were analyzed. Results It showed that the total positive rate of anti-tuberculosis antibody was 46.3%. The positive rate was 34.8%,59.3% and 37.0% in the patients at the age of ≤30,30~60,and ≥60 respectively (P0.05),and 56.6%,38.6% in the patients with and without cavity respectively (P0.05). The effects of the other factors on anti-tuberculosis antibody were not significant (P0.05). Conclusions The sensitivity of anti-tuberculosis antibody for pulmonary tuberculosis is quite low. The positive rate of anti-tuberculosis antibody of the patients at the age of 30~60 is higher than the patients of other ages, and the positive rate of the patients with cavity is higher than the patients without cavity.
