Abstract
This paper briefly concluded the main characters of the theoretical progress on urban system planning in different stages, and then analyzed the current achievements as well as its problems of urban system planning. Based on the background of globalization and the new international division of labor, the paper puts forward a new way of urban system planning that taking the metropolitan area as the core, which based on the metropolitan theory. Under the guide of the new planning way thoughts, the paper expounded the main contents of urban system planning in the era of globalization, trying to testify this new way of regional urban system planning through the urban system planning in Yangjiang City, Guangdong province.
