Abstract

This paper studied the effect of airflow on the muffler acoustic performance. It used the acoustic finite element software to calculate the muffler's transmission loss under the average velocity, and the effect of temperature on muffler. Using Fluent,we analyzed the muffler's internal flow field, and got pressure cloud, velocity cloud and distribution of turbulent kinetic energy. Converting time domain response of the fluctuating pressure into a sound pressure level of spectral response by Matlab,we got the regeneration noise curve, which provides the basis for the muffler design and improvement.
