The Study on the Teacher's Stress and Strain in Elementary and Middle School

Objective:To investigate the occupational stress of teachers in primary and secondary school Methods: The Occupational Stress Invetory Revised Edition(OSI-R) was used.According to the occupational rules questionnaire(ORQ) and personal strain questionnaire(PSQ),the evalution of the occupational stress and strain on teachers were carried out.Results: First.the scores of both items role(RO) and physical environment(PE) in 1,460 teachers were significantly higher than those of 319 non-teachers.Although there was no difference in the total scores of occupational stress between the two groups(p0.01);Second,male teacher scores of occupational stress and strain were signficantly higher than those of females(p0.05);Third,except CD3,the humoral immunity in the teachers were significantly higher than that in non-teachers(p0.01);In the cellar immunity,CD4 and CD8,teachers were significantly lower than that in non-teacher(p0.01).Conclusions: Stress of teachers in the primary and secondary school presented mainly in both RO and PE.The level of occupational stress of teachers in secondary school,specially elder teachers,is significantly higher than those in teachers of primary school.Strain of teachers has some impact on their immunity
