Expression and significance of PCNA and PTEN in patients with gastric cancer

Objective To explore the PTEN,PCNA expression of gastric cancer and its relationship with clinical pathological characteristics.Methods By immunohistochemistry(SP)to detect PTEN,PCNA expression in 89 cases with gastric cancer and 12 cases of normal gastric tissues.Results The positive rate of PTEN in gastric cancer was 69.7%(62/89),significantly higher than normal gastric group(P0.01);PCNA positive rate was 69.7%(62/89),significantly lower than the normal gastric group(P0.01).Expressions of PTEN and PCNA closely related with diameter of tumor,differentiation of tumor,depth of tumor infiltration,lymph node metastasis and TNM stage was(P0.05).PTEN expression was significantly negatively correlated(P0.05),however PCNA expression was significantly positive correlated(P0.05).Kaplan-Meier survival curves showed that cumulative survival rates of patients with positive expression of PTEN was significantly higher than those with negative expression.But cumulative survival rates of patients with positive expression of PCNA were significantly lower than those with negative expression.Conclusions The expressions of PTEN and PCNA have closely relationship with the invasion,metastasis and prognosis in patients with gastric tumor.Both were the important factors that determined the malignant degree of gastric cancer.Combined detection of PTEN and PCNA helps to determine the prognosis of gastric cancer.
