Modernity in Modern Chinese Literature Studies:Significations and Limitations

Modernity,a discourse indeed,has positive effects on modern Chinese literature studies.Firstly,it is ontological to modern Chinese literature studies.Secondly,it means putting modern Chinese literature studies in the context of global culture and world literature.Thirdly,it is a new research paradigm.Its limitations could be as follows:Firstly,modernity is but one aspect of modern Chinese literature studies.Secondly,modernity is a sheer western concept,and it can be doubtful whether it is applicable in modern Chinese literature studies.Thirdly,the concept is too inclusive.
