Abstract

Objective To study the relationship of the expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) with angiogenesis in Condyloma Acuminatum(CA).Methods The expression of HIF-1α and VEGF in specimens from 30 cases of CA and 20 normal foreskin tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry technique.CD34 immunostain was used to measure the microvessel density(MVD).Results The levels of HIF-1α and VEGF in CA were both significantly higher than those in normal controls(P0.01).There was a positive correlation between the expression of HIF-1α and VEGF in CA(P0.01).The number of MVD in CA was significantly higher than that in normal controls(P0.01)and the expression of HIF-1α and VEGF were both positively correlated with MVD in CA(P0.01).Conclusion The overexpression of HIF-1α and VEGF might take part in the pathogenesis of CA by favoring the angiogenesis.
