Abstract

By conventional heat treatment 45 steel has poor wear resistance,so the induction hardening treatment was used to improve its wear resistance. The wear characteristics and wear mechanism of compacted 45 steel in rolling against ZG31Mn2Si steel were studied. The wearing loss mass of 45 steel with different hardness was determined by wearing tests at different loads. The evolution of worn morphology of 45 steel with different hardness was observed by SEM.The results show that with the increasing of hardness of 45 steel, its wearing resistance increases considerably when hardness of abrasive(Ha) is higher than hardness of 45 steel(Hm),however,it varys very slowly for HaHm.The wear mechanism changes from plastic deformation wear to ploughing wear as the hardness of 45 steel increases.
