Abstract

Objective To observe the cognition of mice with herpes simplex encephalitis. Methods 100 male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into three groups: the normal group, the sham-operated group and the model group.Herpes simplex encephalitis mice model was established by Intracerebral inoculation. The morris water maze tests were done respectively at the 20th day after inoculation. All animals were tested for 5 consecutive days,in which escaping latency and swimming track were recorded automatically. On the 6th day the platform was removed and the time in target quadrant were analyzed. Results Compared with the sham-operated group and normal group, the model group displayed much longer latencies and spent less time in target quadrant. Conclusion Mice with herpes simplex encephalitis displayed cognitive impairment obviously.
