Private and Social Morality on "Analects of Confucius"

With the development of the market economy,dramatic changes have taken place in China.With the rapid development of economy,the social morality is deteriorating,since the traditional morality can't take place of moral system of market economy.Furthermore,the emphasis on private morality over social morality in traditional morality aggravates the lacking of social morality.How can traditional morality,especially Confucianism which emphasizes totality,lead to the prevailing of private morality? This paper tries to search the source from Confucius' major classics—《Analects of Confucius.Based on the concept of private morality and social morality,this paper analyses the contents,characteristics and reasons of the private social morality in the Analects,and finally proposes the right attitude towards the thought of Confucius.
