Abstract
To discover the characteristic,difference and fluctuation trends of the consumption structure of the urban and rural residents in Chongqing,with the extended linear expenditure system( ELES) model and the method of econometrics,the authors used the cross-section data of the expenditure of these residents to analyze their actual consumption needs. Then they provided advice on increasing the income of the rural residents,optimizing the consumption structure, improving the consumption environment and completing the social security system in Chongqing.
