Abstract
Linen fiber was selectively oxidized with sodium periodate to yield active aldehyde group, and then HBP-NH2 grafted oxidized linen fiber was prepared by the reaction of the aldehyde groups of oxidized linen fiber with the amino groups of HBP-NH2.The salt-free dyeability of reactive dyes and direct dyes and the antimicrobial activity of HBP-NH2 grafted oxidized linen fiber aqueous solution against Gram-negative bacteria E.coli and Gram-positive bacteria S.aureus were studied. The results showed that compared with conventional dyeing,HBP-NH2 grafted oxidized linen fiber displayed enhanced colour strength when dyed without salt. The washing fastness was satisfactory.HBP-NH2 grafted oxidized linen fibers also showed excellent antibacterial performance and durable antibacterial performance.
