Abstract

Objective:To study the effects of losartan and enalapril on the renal function in old patients with hypertension. Methods:Sixty patients were randomly assigned to receive either losartan or enalapril and their effects on the renal function were compared. Results:Losartan and enalapril significantly reduced blood pressure of old hypertensive patients, and blood pressure control in losartan group was similar to that in enalapril group. Both losartan and enalapril significantly decreased 24h up.Losartan significantly decreased uric acid. Conclusion:Both losartan and enalapril have actions of reducing blood pressure and protecting renal function, and losartan has effect of decreasing uric acid also.
