Abstract
[Objective] To investigate the effect of echistatin on proliferation, apoptosis, and type Ⅰand type Ⅲ procollagen mRNA expression in human hypertrophic scar-derived fibroblasts. [Methods] After treated by echistatin, proliferation, apoptosis, type Ⅰ/type Ⅲ procollagen mRNA expression in cultured fibroblasts from human hypertrophic scar were determined by MTT method, Flow cytometry , and RT-PCR respectively. [Results] Echistatin treatment resulted in significant inhibition of proliferation, type Ⅰ/type Ⅲ procollagen mRNA expression, and marked apoptosis in cultured hypertrophic scar-derived fibroblasts. [Conclusion] Echistatin may be chosen as a drug to prevent and cure hypertrophic scar.
