Abstract
Objective To compare the structure and function of stage Ⅱ and stage Ⅲ of diabetic retinopathy with multifocal electroretinogram( mf-ERG) and optical coherence tomography( OCT). Methods This was cross-sectional study. Mf-ERG were recorded from 45 eyes of 45 control subjects,55 eyes of 55 diabetic patients with stageⅡ of diabetic retinopathy and 55 eyes of 55 diabetic patients with stage Ⅲ of diabetic retinopathy. OCT was used to measure the neural epithelium among above controls and patients. One-way ANOVA and S-N-K test were used for data analysis. Results P1response density were found smaller both in patients with stage Ⅱ of diabetic retinopathy and stage Ⅲ of diabetic retinopathy( P 0. 05). The neural epithelium were found thicken both in patients with stageⅡ of diabetic retinopathy and stage Ⅲof diabetic retinopathy( P 0. 05). P1response density in ring 1,2,3 were found smaller in the patients with stageⅢ of diabetic retinopathy than the patients with stage Ⅱ of diabetic retinopathy( P 0. 05),however most of the neural epithelium of the macular area in stage Ⅲ of diabetic retinopathy were not thickened( P 0. 05). Conclusion Compared to stageⅡ of diabetic retinopathy, most of the neural epithelium of the macular area in stageⅢ were not thickened, however the fuction has been diminished.
