Abstract

Objective To understand the infection status of syphilis and its risk factors among HIV positive MSM(Men who have sex with men) in Hangzhou. Methods A cross-sectional investigation was performed among HIV positive MSM.After the face-to-face questionnaire interview,5-10 ml blood sample was collected for the syphilis detection and CD4 cells count test. The risk factors of syphilis infection were analyzed with logistic regression. Results 460 HIV positive MSM were recruited in this survey,in which 138 were co infected with syphilis. The prevalence of syphilis was 30%(95% CI: 25.81%-34.19%).Age(OR = 1.58;95% CI: 1.23-2.02),the STDs history(OR = 2.41;95% CI;1.52-3.83) and the number of homosexual partners(OR = 2.05;95;CI;,1.28-3.28) were the risk factors for syphilis infection. Conclusion The syphilis prevalence rate among HIV positive MSM is high in Hangzhou, suggesting some effective measures should be taken to prevent the infection of syphilis when preventing and controlling the HIV infection.
