Abstract

Solid lubrication FeS films were prepared on non-ferrous metal (Si) surface by two-step method, namely composite processing between radio-frequency sputtering Fe and low temperature ion sulfuration. XRD was utilized to analyze the phase structures of metal Fe film and solid lubrication FeS film. AFM and SEM were used to observe and analyze their surface and worn morphologies. A scratching tester measured the bonding strength between films and substrate, and a nano indentation machine measured nano-hardness and nano-modulus of FeS film. Experiments were carried out on the friction-wear tester model DD-92. Results showed that FeS film prepared by two-step method is a kind of composite solid lubrication film composed with metal Fe and lubricant FeS, with good bonding and proper surface hardness. FeS film possessed excellent properties of friction-reduction, wear-resistance and anti-scuffing.
