Effect of nursing intervention on perioperative period on hospitalization days and cost of patients with senile cataract

Objective To study the effect of nursing intervention on perioperative period on hospitalization days and cost of patients with senile cataract,and who had undergone the extracapsular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation. Method We Chosed 486 cases of senile cataract patients,which had been carried out extracapsular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation in the Department of Ophthalmology in our hospital,dating from November 2011 to August 2012. On the premise of medical ethics and clinical nursing standard,we randomly selected 90 cases as the experimental group,90 cases as control group. Intervention nursing was carried out on the patients in experimental group,while patients in the control group received the routine nursing. Recorded the length of hospital stay and cost of hospitalization,and used SPSS 13. 0 statistical software to perform statistical analysis. All data was indicated by the mean ± standard deviation,t test and X2test was carried out,significant level was α = 0. 05. Results The average hospital stay and average hospital costs of patients in the experimental group were lower than those of the control group,the results had statistically significant difference(P 0. 05). Conclusion Nursing intervention in perioperative period on senile cataract patients,who have undergone the extracapsular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation,can shorten the hospitalization days,reduce medical costs,and deserves clinical application.
